Rainbows Around The Moon

There are rainbows
around the moon.

Its smiling face,
a crescent smile,
is waiting for the stars to appear,

and so it sings its songs
of love

—with gold, silver light
shining—
to tempt them out
one by one,

to bring the company
of the heavens
to the fore.

When the stars appear
the moon releases
its rainbows,
tying them with a knot
that holds their center
and forms a bow
that then sails off
—like a present—
to the creator,

to that place
from whence they came.

And so it is.
